For Mike Nichols’ film starring Tom Hanks and Oscar-nominated Philip Seymour Hoffman, Whodoo collaborated with the legendary Visual Effects Supervisor Richard Edlund to design, produce, and deliver over 200 digital effects.

The featured effects include the creation of an animated Las Vegas Strip circa 1982 and a seemingly endless Pakistani refugee camp. The company began conceptual design before the script was green-lit, worked with production on the breakdown of all effects, and was responsible for all 3D, matte paintings, and compositing.

In association with Paramount films and Scott Rudin, Whodoo designed and produced a 3D chipmunk, a mockingbird, and blended animatronic dolphins in 85 shots for the Matthew McConaughey comedy.

Whodoo created the flood scene that drowns the villain Stryker. Multiple takes of live action miniatures were massaged into a gigantic flood that fills the valley and rushes towards the camera.

Working closely with director Bill Malone and Academy Award-winner Robert Skotak, Whodoo Efx designed and produced the monster in over 80 shots.

Elements were shot on blue screen and manipulated in both 2D/3D to create the monster. This film was the pilot project of Joel Silver’s Dark Castle Entertainment.
